Chicago Stop 1

First stop was Chicago to see Alicia and Kyle.  We biked Lake Michigan riverfront for 4 miles to Lincoln Park against the wind.  It was a great workout.  Off to celebrate Kyle's 25th Birthday......

We walked by the first Potbelly sandwich shop.....

and then on our way to Lou Malnatti's for delicious deep dish Chicago Pizza we were stopped by a passerby to ask if Pat would help them tie a tie for a young man.  A little surprised... and a little suspicious... Pat tied the tie... and they were on their way!  Glad this retiree was still able to tie a tie!  You never know what might happen in Chicago! (We were so stunned by this that no one thought to take a picture....

After eating delicious Key Lime Pie made homemade by Alicia, we left the bikes there and had Kyle drive us back to the hotel.....4 miles is a good beginning we think for beginner bikers plus who wants to ride in the dark in Chicago.

Day 2 :  Kyle and Alicia rode the bus to our hotel and we started celebrating....

Bucket List number 1:  We have always wanted to take the Architectural Boat Tour of Chicago.  God gave us the most beautiful day ever........and our kids even wanted to go with us.

Chicago also has to be the city of eating.....we ate at the yummy Sienna Tavern downtown which has become a favorite of the younger Murphy's...  After enjoying  cupcakes at Molly's Cupcake shop for dessert, we rolled our way back to the hotel.  Thanks for a wonderful weekend Kyle and Alicia. (notice the swings hanging as bar seats there.....cute idea.

  1. It's a good thing you took your bikes if you're going to be eating those cupcakes along the way...
